Investment DepositsAn investment deposit is a term deposit, held by the bank, the interest rate whereof depends on the terms of the particular deposit as well as on changes in the market value of the underlying assets. Consequently, the depositor has an opportunity, depending on the changes in the underlying asset price, to earn an interest, which can be considerably higher than the yield offered by a term deposit. Essentially, an investment deposit combines the best features of deposits and investments. Although the objective of a deposit is to accept a part of the market risk, generally the original amount of the deposit is 100% guaranteed, and in the worst case scenario the investor merely earns no interest. |
